A Winning Start to 2019!
Mid-February: that time of the year where you’ve just about stopped writing 2018 at the top of your maths jotter every day, decided that maybe Keto isn’t your bag and realised that Marie Kondo is 50% motivating and 50% petrifying.
Here at Replay, we have so many shows to get out on the road that the first six weeks of our 2019 schedule have been anything but minimalist!
We kicked January off with the return of Dan Leith’s ever-popular show WOOFLE at the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn, swiftly followed by a creative development for TRIBE – our brand new show for autistic audiences. TRIBE is a first for us in a few ways – it’s the first show we’ve ever made specifically for autistic audiences, and it’s the first time we’ve ever made a show that will be seen by only one audience member at a time. That’s about as bespoke as you get!
After that it was straight into rehearsals for round two of YES SIR, I CAN BOOGIE, which is now out on a four-week tour. We also managed to squeeze in a win at the Allianz Arts & Business NI Awards for Best Long-Term Partnership with Firefly by Leckey, who make the wonderful Upsees that feature in YES SIR, I CAN BOOGIE. We were totally delighted, not just because it’s fun to win stuff (SO. MUCH. FUN.) but also because the award was great recognition of the magical moments that can happen when two companies with similar visions (but very different methodologies) for inclusion, participation and happiness work together.
During that time, we’ve also been planning and scheming for Spring and Summer - it’s amazing what you can squeeze into six weeks when you’re too cold to go outside! We’re looking forward to sharing all the great stuff we have going on over the next few months, but we’ll save that for the next blog. In the meantime, go forth, wrap up warm, and wherever you go, spark joy.
